S1E12: Faceless on Facebook

Recap [S1E11] – A Flirt or A Love Guru? :  Harry shares some basic truths with the group. According to him, involvement brings misery. Flirting with life is the only way out. This calls for balancing the heart and mind, which is possible if you are true to yourself. Raima is so overcome with emotion on hearing Harry speak thus that she calls him the best love guru she has ever come across.

Harry: I am both! A flirt and a love guru. Flirting is casual and causeless. Besides I need to practice what I preach.

Shom: My God! You are so right. If you balance the two, bliss connects!

Raima: How do you balance heart and mind? Shom will never be able to do this.

Harry: This is a universal fact and not only about the two of you. The most difficult thing is to separate love and relationship. They get into a tangle.

Raima: Yes. The heart and mind don’t see eye to eye.

Khush: Brilliant, Raima!

Natasha: This is so exciting Raima. Tell us more about you and Shom. I know it started about ten years ago, when you suddenly ditched me and vanished from my life. Thanks to Harry and mom, I see you a bit nowadays.

Raima: I am sorry Natasha, my life just transformed after Shom came into my life. I don’t know what happened.

Swapna: Yes Raima, you disappeared from your mom’s life as well. You did not tell me what happened to you, my child. How did the two of you meet? Maybe, only Khush knows.

Khush: I don’t. Raima did not tell me how it happened. With Shom, it was different. I did not like the idea of his falling for her hook line and sinker. I did not even want to know the details.

Everyone glared at him for saying so and he eased himself out by saying that he realised later that they were indeed made for each other.

Harry: Strange that no one knows about these soulmates. I can only guess how they must have met.

Everyone wanted to know.

Harry: Both of them must have been in an unusually desperate state of mind, seeking a way out.

Raima: How did you know? Who told you this? I was actually in a state of shock and needed some sanity, some change. I looked for someone on Facebook without revealing my identity.

I called myself Sara and I was faceless. Yes, faceless on the Facebook! I also realised that no one but an equally desperate and faceless person would chat with me. I kept trying till someone called Shom replied to my chat. I liked the name and managed to keep our conversation going.

It was not easy but I was desperate. Without knowing who it was on the other side, I hoped that it would continue.

Khush: I don’t believe this. Shom on a Facebook chat? Impossible! I know about Raima and I can vouch for the shock she went through because of the bastard Saif Ali!

Raima was visibly shaken up as she heard that name. Shom sensed it and rushed to comfort her.

Harry: When was this?

Shom: About ten years ago. I still have it all saved here on my phone.

Raima (rising in excitement): Oh really, do you have it? I want it, it was on my computer that crashed.

Shom: The Facebook chat was on my first Blackberry. I saved that file on my notebook from one Blackberry to another, and now from one iPhone to another.

Raima: Really!

She ran to Shom to hug and kiss him.

Shom was amused. He did not look depressed anymore. His eyes twinkled as he reminisced the past and hummed a Mary Hopkin song.

Once upon a time there was a tavern

Where we used to raise a glass or two

Remember how we laughed away the hours

And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend

We thought they’d never end

We’d sing and dance forever and a day

We’d live the life we choose

We’d fight and never lose

For we were young and sure to have our way

Raima took over from Shom and sang in continuation.

Just tonight I stood before the tavern

Nothing seemed the way it used to be

In the glass I saw a strange reflection

Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend…

Raima: Do you remember the lyrics after that?

Shom: No. Only the last line.

For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Raima: Yes! Very nice line.

Swapna: How romantic! How lovely! Faceless on Facebook.
